On Monday 29th May, 2023, General Shaw Clifton was promoted to Glory. This is The Salvation Army's phrase for when someone dies because we believe he has gone to be with God, whom he loved and served.  The family is heartbroken, but filled with gratitude for his life and the knowledge that he is with the Lord.

The family has requested no flowers be given for the funeral, but instead donations be made to St. Christopher's Hospice, Lawrie Park Road, Sydenham, London SE26 6DZ. There will also be a retiring collection at the Service of Thanksgiving, and we are grateful to all who will support this cause.

Although our Dad did not make it to St Christopher's Hospice, he was a passionate advocate of the hospice movement, and became a supporter of St Christopher's Hospice itself after the care that our Mum received there when she died in 2011.
